Update killed the sound in bink videos

I got galciv on CD (version 1.01) & I ran it & everything seem to work OK. I updated via stardock to 1.21 & now the bink videos have no sound. Any help?

I would check to see if the DX is up to date.
video drivers are updated.

I had a similar problem with a recent update and had all sorts of problems with the game. After reinstalling from stardock central, the problems went away.

I had a different install path (I've been continually upgrading since the beta).

Interesting.

Do you have WinDVD or other media player programs on your system other than Windows Media Player? Maybe there's a codec it doesn't like.
