map editor question

OK, finally bought & updated AP because of the map editor. Finalyy figured out some of the features, but have something wierd foing on. When I build a map, I want it to populate everything & I just want to make a few additions here & there so I tell it randomize on stars, planets & resources. Everything looks OK, but the planet qualities no longer match the stellar types. Yellow stars no longer have at least a 15+ planet which makes exploration and colonizing very difficlut. Am I missing something or is this the way it works. Seems pretty time consuming to have to add all the planets by hand to make them fit the proper stellar types.
