Guys and hairy legs...

Why?

In my personal opinion, I think hairy guys are gross. Especially leg hair. Why don’t guys shave their legs like girls do? Is it some “manly” tradition? Or is it something that I am totally missing? : P

But, I am the girl who will go weeks without shaving her legs and show her boyfriend how long her leg hair is… and I know that he truly loves me because he doesn’t mind at all. I just can’t complain about his facial hair, and he won’t complain about my leg hair (he said he won’t complain “too much”.) And all of my girl friends *cough* Ashley *cough* will be like, “OMG that is soooo gross!!” : P How can they say hair is gross on a girl’s leg when they have a whole head full of it? But really, why do guys let their leg hair grow out and it is completely normal… but if a girl does it, it is considered gross (by everybody but her boyfriend. : P)

On some guys, leg hair really isn’t a problem (and neither is facial hair)…because they don’t have any : P. But other guys… my gosh! Do you have to comb it out every morning?!? Do you have to shampoo it!! It is so long and I think it is soooo gross! Am I wrong for thinking that? Guy swimmers shave their legs… so why don’t all guys do that?

And, why is it in Italy… hairy women are considered gorgeous and here they are not!! Why don’t I just move to Italy and I will never have to shave my legs again… But, do guys have hairy legs over there? Because then… I don’t know. I guess I could live with a man with hairy legs. I just won’t touch them.

I guess my real question/s is why DON’T guys shave their legs and why DO girls shave their legs?

Well for one Sam, leg hair has a different feeling then hair on ur head does! lol. And there will be sometimes when I don't shave my legs for like a week, but i think it's gross that I don't. I dunno, it's weird. I think guys should be able to shave their legs. I mean why not? And the french people, well maybe it's a custom or something.

Do you really want to know why? Simple, guys have pride issues. Since guys used to have hairy legs, we haven't changed it because someone else will say something and then we get offended and don't do it again. Would you like me to shave mine once for you? I could. I'd have to talk it over with my mommy first but if she lets me I will.

One thing though? Since when is hair on you body a bad thing? I kinda like it, it catches some of the sweat and sometimes it even covers things like scars... Hair is like the human duct take, it helps us in all kinds of junk...

it catches some of the sweat

And therefore harbors some of the odor.  Yukky.

With my husband being gone, I went for almost 2 weeks this winter without shaving my legs.  I had to shave after that because the hair got long enough to catch in my socks and itch like hell.  I tried not shaving my pits as well, but it drove me nuts and made me stink (I thought it did, anyway) despite wearing deodorant.  As for other places...well, it's the same deal.

I think that we in the US are so obsessed with cleanliness and all things sanitary that we carried that over to our bodies as well.  Europeans are much more relaxed about the whole thing (I'm British, btw.  Brits are notorious for not washing themselves and being stinky...I however, have lived her long enough to have become Americanized)

Go into edit to fix your title.  You don't need the apostrophe.

Hair on guys isn't bad at all. It shows that the guy is a real man.

Capt.~ That would be awesome if you did that. But just to let you know it would look really funny if you let it grow back. Well at first anyways. Yeah checking with your mommy might be the best thing to do before you actually do it. lol.

I did shave my arms once. I'm still having trouble growing the hair back, but it's coming along. I don't see the problem in having the hair, I like it. I feel weird when I cut ANY of my hair off. Maybe the reason why you stunk was because you didn't have deoderant for the hairy armpits. Basically, you needed the man stuff.

So did your mommy approve of shaving your legs yet? That's kinda weird that you shaved the hair off of your arms. Actually that's kinda funny. Well if you decide to do it let me know. I think that you'd look awefully funny with no leg hair. lol. So maybe you won't cut your hair because you don't like it. Is that the only reason you are trying to get an afro? hehe.

Uh....I'd have to say it's a tradition....and part of our crazy American culture.....I'll just agree with Batman for the most part....and I think another reason is that we're just really lazy and don't shave anything below the neck....lol....gross yet true....also body hair allows you to keep warmer in the winter and in cold water....you know, like seals and otters....hehe.....anyway, I'm done for right now and I'll anticipate your next article.....lol....man I have no life....

G'day,

Yes, yes it is a tradition. Well, possibly. And zoo what's up with the G'day? Did you take a trip to Austrailia? hehe.

Boy I have a good idea who this might be about.

When I was younger, before puberty, I saw some of my relatives and family members and kinda figured hairy legs were inevitable. I'm proud of my hair for the most part. Anyone who knows me know I've got a lot of hair on my head!!! Got me some hairy legs, the ability to grow a decent amount of facial hair and everywhere else that counts.

Nahh, nothing hairy about Italians. Nothing at all. (whistles innocently)

Maybe this will give you an idea. I heard an Italian comedienne once explain she had married a non-Italian "So I wouldn't give birth to something with neck hair."

I don't mind leg hairs on man, trust me, my man has plenty of it. It's hair everywhere else that I have a problem with. On their chest, back, their hoo hoo spots. On a woman, hair is gross, but I personally can't say about the legs because like you I tend to go weeks on end without shaving them. My underarms are a must though and the hoo hoo spot. Great article though.

Your hoo hoo spot?? Woah.....that's wrong!!! Shesh, keep these things to your self please!! I don't care about any friggin hoo hoo spots! By the way......it's not hoo hoo spot.....it's pudding snack. Shesh, get it right!
