Disagreements are inevitable in any marriage. Arguments occur between the most loving mates. In a moment when calm and reason prevail, make a pact always to play by the rules. Your mutually agreed-upon rules may read something like this:
--Neither party shall resort to or threaten violence in any form.
--Neither party shall run home to mother.
--Neither party shall sleep on the couch.
--Either party may request a brief cooling-off period to regain emotional control, but the time period should be measured in hours, not days or weeks.
Your list should be unique to the two of you, but once you make your list, play fair. Abide by the rules.
