Is Harry Potter Getting Old??

Just asking

I have read Harry Potter and think that it's alright but I heard from someone that she is writing two more books so that Hollywood can make more films. I don't know about but I think that The movies wil get old with people and become like The Land Before Time! Even though I liked the Land Before Time when I was a kid and I still like Harry Potter. I think sooner or later it will get old with people fast!

Actually, J.K.Rowling was always going to write 7 books because secondary school lasts 7 years. Also, the plot is very complex and requires 7 books. The films are irrelevant to the number of books written. I don't think the books will 'get old' , as you put it,
for a good long time; they are entertaining, involving and have diehard legions of staunch fans. And given the intense popularity of the books, people will continue watching the films, if only out of interest in comparing them to the books.

Daniel Radcliffe lives in my street! Just as an aside. My only claim to fame

I know what you mean. After all, after the first Lord of the Rings movie, it seemed as though they were simply milking it. Thankfully, unlike the Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter is actually good!

I actually like both the Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. But that's beside the point. I think the books for both are better than the movies. I don't think Harry Potter is going to get old. The plot is just too complex for people to just quit watching or reading. They leave you wondering what is going to happen in the next movie/book. I honestly think that Harry Potter will be liked by future generations. I don't think they will go the way of The Land before Time.

First of all, Ms. Rowling is not writing two more books so that Hollywood can make more films. Her plan from the beginning, before there were ANY films, was to write seven books--one for each of Harry's years at Hogwarts. She has published five, therefore there are two more to come...and then, most regrettably, Harry will apparently disappear into the sunset.

Secondly, I don't believe the books or movies will get old, and certainly don't think you can compare them with the Land Before Time movies. THOSE movies, IMO, are telling the same basic story over and over again....and are not worth watching. However, the HP series is constanty different and entertaining...for children AND adults. I am just as anxious for the last two books to be written as any of my children. The entire family reads the books and watches the movies--and we watch the movies over and over and over......

Oh my goodness.....we have all three LOTR movies, and I absolutely LOVE them!! They aren't as good as the books, but then most movies usually aren't, you know?

Yes! That says it SO very well!!

Not Yet and I did read that she was going to write more books and that she didn't want to kill someone in the 5th book!

Ok....Harry Potter will get old when the profit goes down....as my crazed mind pieces together another theory....ok, probably fact....Hollywood executives are greedy SOB's and will milk any popular thing till the last penny.... Just look at reality TV...if that crap doesn't stop soon...I'm going to kill....something....lol...not to freak you out, but come on...how many people still fall for this crap...

(For more ridicule on reality TV refer to the article "Death to Reality TV and the People that Make that Crap...." @ http://zoologist03.joeuser.com)...stop by anytime

What's an SOB?
And while we're at it, what's a freshman?
I am very confused.

Yeah she always planned to write 7 books. One each year at hogwart's. 7 years from beginning to graduation.

SOB - Son of a bitch (American vulgarity)

Freshman - I realize EUR schooling is different from US schooling. In the US, there are 12 years of education that begin from when you are around 5-6 until you are 17-18. The first five or so years (classifications vary from school to school) are 'elementary' grades. The sixth, seventh, and eighth years are referred to as 'middle school' or 'junior high school'. The 9-12 years are called 'high school', and the 9th year, assuming you don't repeat a grade level, is called the 'freshman year' (10,11,12 - sophomore, junior, senior). A freshman can also be the first year of college, or university.

...that felt good. Hope it helped you, the hidden paw.
