Research bonuses with an all factory strategy


Hi guys, I was just wondering if anyone knew whether research bonuses from either mining Starbases or ability picks are counted towards research focused from factories, or whether it's just applied to the research generated from labs.

In my current game all my research is coming from factories and focus, but there's two research resources nearby and I'm just wondering whether it's worth it to build them up.

Also, in the same game, I've got 3 morale resources. Is it worth building up all 3, I read somewhere a long time ago that morale was capped, is this still the case? and if so, what is the cap?

Depends on the amount of pop you want to have at 100% approval and the amount of tax you want from them, but I'd say yes. In DA the bonus from morale abilities caps at 100, but after applied penalities from pop and taxes. So a bonus from 3 resources will "nullify" penality from quite a large pop or taxation level. From my experience from the last game with my morale ability about 160 (two morale resources at 34%), almost every of my planets below 10B pop had 100% approval at 59% taxes. I was playing Super Breeder aiming at conquering the rest of the galaxy (~150 planets) before the third game year would end, so I needed pop more than money.

The research bonuses do only deliver half the value they claim to give. I have read that in another thread about the all-x-strategy but I do not remember which one. That means: 50% research bonus only allows you to increase your overall research by 25%, for half of which you have to pay.

Since a raised morale level translates into either more money or more people, it is always useful. And since the key-word is AND, you also get more flexibility.

Having said that, I would always build up the morale resources.

No, a 50% Research Bonus WILL give a 50% increase to research output, but you only pay 25% extra. The value is full, the price is half.

Yes, I would also max morale resources, with constructor priority order being Economy -> Research -> Morale -> Military -> Influence. IN TA with super-tourism, Influence Resources will be pricelessly valuable(provided 10x tourism is still the norm when I buy the completed TA sometime in Jan-March).
