Here we stand
on the factory floor
surrounded by
piles of unwashed laundry
unfinished school assignments
and other domestic detritus

but I still remember

the nights of passion
and private ice cream parties
and thrilling laughter

animated conversations
about dreamlike imagined futures

laying limp and
love-spent as the Delfonics
played softly and dolefully
into the early morning

I saw everything anew
because I saw it
with you

we were not always
co-workers in the
child-raising factory

once
we lived and loved
without distraction

and I know we can
again

I still remember
and I know you do too.

Yeah, I remember. But there was something sweet about the clang and chatter of the factory floor too.

I'm giving this one to my wife, Buddah. Thanks...
