Fertility Clinics, not just for women!

So, just out of curiousity, does anyone else bother with fertility clinics besides me?
I love building these things, they go up usually in a turn or 2, and I really like building multiple clinics on conquered planets. Sometimes I will drop 4 or 5 on a large world and then deconstruct them and add banks or something else. Ive never heard much discussion about them on the boards, and have never done deeper research on them like I have seen others break down numbers on the boards.

So do you feel they actually help or are they wasted planet improvements? And if you do build multiple clinics are the effects additive, or just 25% to the base rate each time, meaning if I build 4, is that a 100% growth rate, or does the first = 25%, 2nd = 25% more of "new" growth, 3rd = 25% of the "newest" rate, and so on and so on?

Actually, fertility clinics ARE 'not just for women'. Most of them have a staff or consulting urologist. Takes 2 (or 3 or 7, depending on species) to tango.

I only build fertility clinics on heavy manufacturing worlds because they are the ones that spit out troop transports and need to quickly recuperate their populations.

Any time you take over a planet is a good time to build a fertility clinic. They're dirt cheap, I usually put one at the top of the queue as my first occupation... er, liberation action. You can always build something else over it once your population is up and running.

Fertility clinic gives you 25% of the base growth rate, or 50% at 100% approval. That means until your growth is below 75 million pop (let's say the growth on a planet is 40M) a FC adds 25% to it (in our case 10M, or 20 at 100% approval). When your base growth goes over 75M, the contribution from a FC turns to fixed number 19M (38M at 100% approval) pop each turn.
