Take me for a ride

The wind in my face felt like the heat of a hair dryer,
I could smell the beer seeping out of my pores,
stale from the previous nights' overconsumption,
droplets amassing themselves in an impressive sized puddle on the back of my t-shirt.
G'damn freeloaders,
it still feels like the mind is doing all the work,
and the body is just along for the ride.
I've always done my best to press on,
even in harsh conditions more induced than actual,
Really though, it must have been hot,
for even though I can still feel the sweat freeze in my beard just 4 months past,
at least it cooled me.
Lately I feel that all I create is heat.
The tires on the road,
the brakes on the rims,
my arms in the sun,
and the burning in knees as each crank turns,
and pushes me closer, and faster, into the thick air,
and the passing thoughts that accompany me.
My bike takes me for a ride...everytime.
