Drengin.net Expiration Question

What exactly do we lose when our Drengin.net accounts expire in a year? Chat, news, Metaverse, what?

You won't be able to download any new games. Ideally (though this isn't functional yet), the database is going to know what you're allowed to get and will continue to let you get those games. It'll just suppress new ones.

So if there was a [hypthetical example] GalCiv 1.6 next April 4, you could still get the update.

what would happen if i simply have the retailed box version? after a year, will i still be able to get updates? or will i need to pay again? right now, they don't accept checks via internet...that is the only way i can pay....

That idea sounds fair, still updating existing games that I have already bought. That was counter to another response I got saying that I wouldn't be able to update any of my games without subscribing again. All I ask is support for what I already paid for.

vernmeister2u how many games do you get bug fixes etc after 1 year.
Galciv will be supported not only with bug fixes but also immprovements to the AI, game play etc

EVERY game that I have ever had to date, was supported for all those who bought it, until it was no longer supported at all, for anyone. No company has ever charged additional money for support or updates beyond the initial cost of the game (MMORPGs excluded by their nature) to my knowledge. Diablo and Diablo 2, for instance, has had support for well beyond a year's time. Battle.net, part of Diablo, also fits this bill. Does my giving you examples change anything? I don't think it will, so I don't think it's relevant. I could scour the 'net if need be to find other companies that have patched their games after a year. Will this make a difference in your companies policy?

Let me again state, I think Nakor's explanation above (response #1) is very fair and equitable.
