Annoying icons ! (and how to turn them off or customize their behavior)

I think its more to do with the scale than the computing power sometimes without the icons I genuinely wouldnt be able to see anything there but I do agree that the current ones are annoying

You can adjust the icon draw distances and many other related values to your liking in gameplay.constants.

Hi Massive, you can disable those icons here: menu > options > UI >Show main view icons

Ah I see there is a bug there, good find. Turning off the main view icons should make them visible at any distance but it is cutting them out if they are at a distance where the icons would be off. We'll fix this in the patch. In the meantime you can crank up the VisibilityDistanceData multipliers. You won't need to do this once we patch.

Blair I would advocate putting the cinematic view button in the game, rather than in the options menu (kindof like the scroll-to-mouse button) that way I can enjoy the beauty of my excellently excecuted attack strategy while still giving out orders without too much of a hastle.

Perhaps we will exchange it with the scroll-to-mouse button. We were going to move that to the options window because it doesn't seem to be something that you would change frequently during the course of a game whereas cinematic view likely is.

Yeah, before i couldnt even see a KOL BATTLESHIP because of this crapload of platform icons, one time i could tell my capital planet just by the giant red mark of icons i could see 2 PLANETS away (or was it one, i forget) Point is, this is insanity please send out that patch soon, i really really am hearting for it.

Anyway, i think there should be a way to customize icon size.

Now I have version 1.2 what setting am I supposed to modify, if I want to change when the ship icons hit in, in the gameplay.constants file? ^^
