Enhanced JoeUser Error Notication
Stomping out those pesky 500 errors!
As of late I am sure many of you have noticed many Error 500 - This Page Cannot Be Displayed messages. Unfortunately that error message doesn't give us much to work on so it is very hard to debug. Well, yesterday, we enhanced the error message reporting system which will help us out greatly.
First many of you will notice that you will not see the generic Error 500 page but instead you will see a JoeUser formatted page. Some of you may still see the generic Error 500 page because IE will intercept the page and display the generic page if you have your Show Friendly HTTP Error message turned on in your browser settings.
But, thats not really the important thing. With each 500 error that is generated we create a log of that error and we are immediately notified. The error logs all the information about the request of the page which gives us all the information which will help us track down those nasty bugs.
We identified 3 major bugs that were creating those 500 errors and have fixed them. Because of this new system I think you will find that there JoeUser will have many less errors now. Thanks for everyone's patience while we worked out these kinks!
