I'm playing a game with the custom race

I'm playing a game with the custom race and I set planet quality at +20% (That cost 8/10 points) and the other two points spent on Luck and it's insane. I have a PQ26 and several PQ24's. I even have a PQ24 as my manufacturing Capital and it has a +700% manufacturing tile on it! Damn! Just wait til I buff it out with econ star bases! This is going to be fun!

Have any of you ever had luck dumping all your points into +20% PQ trait?

Cant say that Ive tried it recently in DA. I usually try to spread out those points as much as I can and shy away from using 8 on a single option. But it makes sense to use this strategy; higher PQ = higher potential population(and in turn taxes) as well as more real estate to build. I wonder if the higher PQ was the reason for the special planetary resource..though i dont think it works that way, isnt it more random? Keep us updated on how it goes, maybe ill try it on my next game.

High PQ racial bonus makes sense in DL, but not DA. DA makes it so your low-PQ planets get more Soil Improvement tiles, so you're actually hurting yourself if you're colonizing PQ5 and below and you have PQ bonus.

BTW playing custom race doesn't make so much sense in DA beta, either, because you lose the built-in racial bonuses.

Is the planet quality bonus to the percent? EX: You have +20% planet quality. Does that mean you can have a class 5 into a class 25?

Technically if you have the planet bonus, shouldn't you be able to colonize class 0 planets?

I've never tried it because of the cost. But based on what you're seeing it may very well be worth it.

I was under the impression that this may only affect worlds you colonize not worlds you conquer. Let us know if you determine whether this is true or not.

The problem with these kinds of things is that perhaps the large number of high PQ planets that you're seeing is just luck.

Does that mean you can have a class 5 into a class 25?

I assume this would turn a PQ5 into a PQ6.

In later builds of DL and in DA beta, the PQ bonus applies to worlds colonized, conquered, flipped, whatever. It's a % bonus, so PQ 5 turns into a 6. I don't think it particularly rounds up or down--I think it just rounds--because PQ 4 turns into a 5.

I have been using the 3 point option. It makes PQ12 into PQ15s and it works when you conquer something as well as colonize it. It makes for a nice bonus. The AI terraforms the planet for you and then you conquer it and its PQ goes up even more.
