DesktopX is the program that first made is possible to put live desktop objects onto Windows. While many people use DesktopX to create mini-applications (widgets and gadgets) it's far more flexible than that. Here are some goodies to try out:

SnowDocs By Frogboy This animated snowman can act as a short-cut to anything you want but defaults to your documents directory. |

Set how many snow flakes you want and it'll have them gently fall to the ground (or quickly depending on your settings) |
