Why does it take half an hour to show new posts?

It only shows new posts on the recent posts list after someone makes a comment. That's why people bump their posts.

You could just use the recent posts list under the category listing, or the "New Posts Today" link. Both are part of the new forum code, and as such, actually work properly and fast.
