What have you been listening to followup--share a song

What one song would you most want to share with or dedicate to others?

Here's a bit of a follow-up to my What have you been listening to? (music discussion) article -- if you were given a request to choose one song you like that you'd like others to hear, what would it be?

It could be a favorite song by a favorite artist, or a lesser known song by a popular artist or a completely obscure song by a completely obscure artist. How popular it is doesn't matter, just that it's a song you would share with others. Perhaps it is a song that sends a message, perhaps it's just that you like the tune (melody) or the lyrics (words and story) or just that you feel it's a perfect combination of both.

In anycase, think of something you'd want to share with others. Heck, if you want more fun, toss out a few titles as potential dedications you'd make to other Joe and Jill Users here. (Actually this sounds like the most fun, so lets go for it!)

If you really want to go the extra mile, try including some links to sites like Amazon.com, or similar sites where you can sample the songs and hear a short snippet of them. (Use the Link feature to do that).

I have to stop and think a bit here for this (darn it, I hate when I give myself homework). Hopefully I'll have a few titles up soon...

I already did this with the Pastoral Council of my Church.  The Candle of Life - Moody Blues.  It is from my favorite band, yet speaks to me on a very spiritual level.

There are many, many more songs that are good.  But if you want one, that is THE one.

When I want to turn someone on to songs I like, among my first offerings has long been...

Cliffs of Dover: Eric Johnson.

When I am talking to someone who I know is into guitars...

Stairway to Heaven: Stanley Jordon (one of the few songs that gave me chills as I watched it being played).

I've been listening to StarWars Revelations,  the music is soothing, and ethereal.

A couple of my CD's are Celtic Angels by Kokila

and Native Spirit~ native american flutes

Ok, I think I have a few tunes I would want to share here.

Dedicated to no one in particular: Brad Cotter's Patient Man. Great tune, under appreciated by a mile. Nice message and just the right hint of chest thumping without being overly agressive in the lyrics. Sample it here: Amazon.com listing of Patient Man CD

I'd dedicate a few of the Corrs songs found here: here on their Unplugged (import to the U.S.) CD to various people. I love the tune No Frontiers, it's a beautiful tune with great meaning.
As noted in the review of the CD, their cover of Everybody Hurts is awesome. That one I could dedicate to a few folks here, especially ones fighting off pain on a regular basis.
Their version of Lough Erin Shore is so soothing and calming, I toss that one out to anyone that needs to chill and mellow for a bit.
And finally (for now), I'd put in a vote for Toss the Feathers for anyone needing a lift and pick-me-up. That song gets me perked up fast, though I know it's exhausting for them to perform with all of the energy coming through the music.

By the way, Lyrics for Patient Man can be found here: lyrics for Patient Man

Lyrics for No Frontiers can be found here: lyrics for No Frontiers

Lough Erin Shore and Toss the Feathers are instrumentals. Everybody Hurts was made famous by REM, so lyrics should be easy to find.

You should make the dedications thing a whole separate article (for here or the Misc category). Sounds like a cool idea.

I can think of a few who could stand to listen to the lyrics of the Eagles "Get Over It"

I dunno...for some reason, I have the Pogues "Bottle of Smoke" going through my head right now...so, I'll toss out a couple lines from that one:

"Twenty F&*^ing-five to one, my gambling days are done,
I bet on a horse called a Bottle of Smoke and my horse won".
