This is when, dare I say it, but my best friend and I have discussed doing this one in his back yard (the diet coke is actually good for grass, or so I am told). Total cost would be about $120 to $150. What slays me is the amount of time it took to take the caps off, drill that little hole, put the thread in it, tie up 4 mentos with the thread, dump enough Diet coke so the mento's aren't touching right away and figuring out the stringing mechanism to make several "drop" at the same time.

BUt this was the 137th experiment......I wonder how many bottles they had to go through to figure out the timing for everything! the hold size, # of mentos etc etc
