RANT: silly DVD or game traders not paying attention

Why become a member of a trade service if you are not ready to trade?

I almost forgot about this rant and then recalled the topic this a.m. in time for a quick article here...

I'll spare readers the full-on RANT, and instead just ask don't you just hate becoming a member of a DVD/Video Game/Music CD trading service like SwitchDiscs.com or PeerFlix only to find that a lot of the members that have the items you are requesting apparently are not paying attention to the requests for their items?!?

As an example, at least two recent requests for items via SwitchDiscs have been sitting for long periods of time. One sat for well over a week with out a reply. I tried sending the person that had the materials an e-mail reminder to get their attention (just a polite reminder, sent via the SwitchDiscs system) but they either weren't paying attention to the e-mails or just didn't care. (After a week passed, I cancelled the request for the item since it appeared I'd never get it :-( )

Perhaps the e-mail hit junk mail filters and never got to them, but it doesn't excuse the lack of attention to the service they joined -- if they actually LOGGED INTO THE SERVICE every few days and checked the requests for their items, they'd see the notification on the service to make the trade.

Anyway, if you are going to become a member of one of these services, do the other members a favor and PAY ATTENTION. Check the site every few days so you can honor requests for your items (and earn credits for items you want for yourself). It is the least you should be doing.
