Forget M-I-III, bring on X-III The Last Stand

Forget M:I:III, bring on X:III (X-Men 3) The Last Stand.

I'll see M:I:III (Mission Impossible 3) somewhere down the road, probably free on HBO or something similar, maybe via Netflix disc rentals or similar, but I really just don't have the interest in paying any of my not so large allotment of disposable income to buy tickets for anything that helps to line the pockets of Tom Cruise. Cruise and his brand of I'm smarter than you, psychology is bunk, and you should all be following the ways of scientology just don't do anything for me.

I used to think he was one of my favorite actors, and enjoyed his movies (Top Gun and even the somewhat corny and predictable Top Gun on the race track NASCAR themed Days of Thunder as examples, along with A Few Good Men, Rain Man and a few other choices that I enjoyed). Lately though his antics have just been so irritating and over-the-top that I just can't stomach him, or at least can't stomach the thought of him justifying his craziness by cashing a check that is even a dime ($0.10) larger because I was a patron for his work.

On the other hand, I'm very much looking forward to the X-Men 3 movie. The previews look very good for it, and the story is one that seems to be engrossing (or at least looks like it will be).

I'll be glad to go out of my way to see X:3 and see how the good guys win one for the world.

I can't wait for x III too. I'm hoping that it comes on at the drive-in near our house. MI - 3 I can take it or leave it. Tom Cruise has issues but I really don't let that determine what I'm watching or paying for. I think all of the Hollywood people are crack heads some just get more publicity for it.

People are blaming the MI3 bomb as anti-Tom backlash.

Whatever. I gives a crap about Tom Cruise's love life and penchant for losing his cool in public fora, like Oprah or the Today Show. I am not gonna fork over $9-10 PER PERSON for a movie that I have seen twice before. Harry Potter, yes. MI, not so much.

In fact, from the Australian "Onion", the Chaser:

World wishes Cruise and Holmes would remain silent after birth too

In response to their advocacy of the Scientologist belief that mothers should remain silent during birth, the public have universally encouraged new parents Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes to remain silent after it as well. "I would have thought Tom should be worrying less about staying silent during the birth, and more during his next appearance on Oprah," one child development expert said. "The main risk that's going to harm this child is embarrassment."

However the expert praised the new parents for naming their child Suri. "It's always hard for a child to have famous parents, so it's great that they've given her an even bigger reason to be teased," she said.

There has been extensive debate about the name's meaning, but most scholars now agree that it means "future Scientologist".

The new baby has increased Cruise's already heavy child-care burden. He is now responsible for the care of Suri, his two adopted children with Nicole Kidman and also Katie Holmes.

Cruise appeared on Sunrise shortly after the birth to promote his new movie and reassure uninterested viewers that he was doing well. There was some surprise that he didn't appear on the Today Show on James Packer's Nine network, but it's understood that even his close friendship with a fellow Scientologist wasn't enough to make him endure an interview with Jessica Rowe.

The couple are considering having another child, but only if Cruise needs to publicise Mission Impossible 4.

I'm with you on this one, terpfan. I'm all about the X Men. I've loved that comic since I was a youngster, and thoroughly enjoyed the cartoon back in the day. And I can't wait to see Phoenix come and kick some serious booty! (gotta love that Famke Janssen . . . )

I gotta be honest and admit that before the first X-Men movie, I really didn't know squat about them. Heck, I still really don't know squat about the characters and their histories.

I did really enjoy the first movie though, and enjoyed the second a lot too.

The previews for this 3rd installment look very good, and as I have always enjoyed (at least the better ones) super hero movies, I'm looking forward to seeing how this 3rd one does. If I knew the history of the characters, I'd probably not be into it as much, and would just be upset that the movies aren't staying true to the stories that I knew from reading the comics.

Well, I have seen MI3, but you can bet that my son will want to see X3 the week it opens!  If I boycotted every actor/actress I disagreeed with, my movie selections would be Baby Herman!

I long ago retired my Wayfarer's, why hasn't Tom?.....The closest he's come to Risky Business is trying to overshadow Travolta in his Scientology mission.
