How do you handle telemarketers?

How do you handle telemarketers?

"Hello sir, have I got a deal for you!"

No thank...

How many get calls from telemarketers, sometimes at ungodly hours...? Well...I've handled them in the following manners:

"No thank you." ~Followed by hanging up.

"Ya know what, i am really interested, but could you give me a second. I have dinner on." ~Followed by leaving the phone and "forgetting" about it.

"Me no speak english" ~ :D It works...

"No-No. I have a great deal for you!" ~ I go on babbling about random "deals".

I hang up, as soon as i hear anything 'telemarketer-ish".

"Sure, I'd love to hear about the offer, but how about I call you back."

"No (sir or m'am) I don't need ______" ~Inserting a random, off the wall thing.

"So, you make how much doing telemarketing?"

"How you doin?" ~Yeah, from 'friends', but hey...it got drilled into my brain with my sister loving the show, and-it works. :D

These are the few i could think of at the moment. So, how do you handle telmarketers?

Well Lucas, I am not going to read this orgy fest. I quit responding when you told me to, but Just John made me search every fricking article to find out what the f&ck he was talking about. Now I know.

Fine, it was only me you wanted to stop trashing the queen of trash talk? Go for it. Delete this message. I will debate Jerky John on his own blog. Stew in your cesspool.

Sorry, I actually thought you had changed.

I appreciate the information that just john, Tova7, and dharmagirl passed on to me here, because it helped me understand the overtly hostile reactions I've gotten from a few people here, when I hadn't done anything to provoke them.

I will debate Jerky John on his own blog

If that's true, then why did you post your OWN article about it, because you know I can't participate there or because you want all the "points" that an argument about this woman is bound to generate? (Yes, someone else was kind enough to clue me in on this thing called "points whoring." HILARIOUS!!!)

Elindel Wolf, once again I find myself apologizing to you for OTHER people's behavior. If you want me to refrain from participating in your discussions, you need only ask, because I have no desire to bring unpleasantness down upon you. You've been nothing but nice to me so far, which is a lot more than I can say for a few others in this place, and I don't want to cause you any more trouble.

Please let me know what you'd like me to do, ok?

*sighs* No. I wanted everyone TO NOT start talking trash...you can debate him, thats fine. No name calling,etc... Dig it?Here, this is what i said:

Three words: CUT IT OUT. Verbal shitting won't be allowed on this blog...no matter who it my be, okay? Good.And....have a nice day.~Lucas

See? No matter who it be...IF DG had verbally shit on you, then he would be gone...

Funny. I though you were an adult. Two words...grow up.

YOU do not need to apologize for OTHERS actions. Dr. Guy is old enough-i hope- to apologize, if he so chooses. If not-*shrugs*- its his choice.

Hi Sabrina. Enjoying yourself? Kind of disingenious and deceitful. Like your plagarism that I have archived.

Prove its her. Ask Brad, karma or whomever. If its her, then ok. If not...

The question I have is this, since this woman was not exiled, why would they even care if she returned under a new name, unless she was violating the rules of posting? It seems to me that an awful lot of people are making a HUGE DEAL out of what should be a non-issue. And wouldn't it be unethical (and quite possibly even dangerous) for the site's administrators to reveal personal login data to someone who is obviously so hostile?

They've done it before to a small degree....another blogger here was in a debate with some of the admins (KFC)...and when some anon users came on and took her side of the debate...one of the admins looked up the anon ip and told everyone where he was...the state I mean, and if I remember right the town.

Kinda blew the debate though, which was too bad because it was a good one.

Personally, I don't care if someone already a member logs on as anon or with a new name and posts.....as long as its not just name calling....the "thought" is still valid and can be part of the debate even if they don't use their original log on id......KFC was an anon user for a long time and I think she really was significant in several discussions....even as anon....

By law i believe they have to end the conversation immediately if you say
"Take me off the list"

There is usually that 1 second delay which tells you it is a telemarketer.
Upon the first word they speak I simply say
"Take me off your list"
They usually hang up right there and then.

HAHAHAHAHA That's a joke right?

This is totally MY perception but here it goes.

Most people who don't want LW to come back aren't really concerned with whether she violated the "rules" or not. There were a lot of angry words when she left, and its easier for her to stay away than to come back and people have to deal with her abrasive personality and what they've said about her...to her face so to speak.

Then there are those who just flat out hate her. For one reason or another they found themselves at odds with her and probably have enjoyed being able to post without having her making snide comments on what they have to say.

I think another group of people who don't want her to come back are those who feel intimidated...meaning she could verbally assault like a pro...so a certain amount of fear plays in as well....though I wouldn't expect anyone to admit it.

I will admit JU is more peaceful since LW left....BUT we def lost something, and I can't quite articulate it, when she left...something I personally think added to JU.

There was an article once on who people are in the net...I can't remember who posted it or I'd link it...think it was Brad...it described diff personalities on line. LW was imo a "royal" on JU, one because she was articulate and well written, two because she leads a life that I would submit is "not normal" to most users, three she was here awhile.

Well when she abdicated her throne so to speak, the people described above at the very least felt a sense of relief, at the very worst, danced on her grave.
So of course they don't want to see a return.

So if you are LW and are back...then be back. Like all families there will be the big splash and then the ripples, but then it will be over. There may be some blood on the floor and a few torn clothes...but LW didn't leave easy, why should the return be any less violent?

Exactly my point.

Abrasive (IMHO) is an understatement.

Then there are those who just flat out hate her. For one reason or another they found themselves at odds with her and probably have enjoyed being able to post without having her making snide comments on what they have to say.

I never hated her myself...I can think of more than a few who just might.

I think another group of people who don't want her to come back are those who feel intimidated...meaning she could verbally assault like a pro...so a certain amount of fear plays in as well....though I wouldn't expect anyone to admit it.

Aye! *raises hand* For me...its not fear. Though, i agree that JU lost a big chunk...i am glad she left...as now, i really have little worry at LW being..."abrasive." Might sound a bit selfish,etc... but..

Couldn't they just block her?

I can think of more than a few who just might

The only one I'm getting hassled by is Guy. I've been blocked by 2 others, but at least they aren't starting problems with me every time I post.

All this has certainly been informative, but I think the less attention paid to his little outbursts the better, so I'm more than willing to drop it, letting Elindel Wolf and just john settle their own end of it in their own way. I stated this on just johns article too, so lets see what happens.

I wont be around for a few days, so enjoy your weekend everybody!

Accountability, among other things, tova. When Sabrina was here, certain bloggers "colored within the lines" because they knew she'd catch them if they did not.
