That's UB40, I love them, and I went to their concert in February. And it was just THAT good :)

Living in a little island lost in the Pacific we are always happy to have international stars dropping by and singing us a few songs in the early evening, heh. I'm sure some of you wont even know who i'm talking about. I have this Aussie friend and I was telling him how excited I was because i was going to UB40s concert and that they were icons of reggae, etc, etc... He just looked at me totally puzzled and said "who?"

*sigh*

The concert was a blast, they sang Red Red Wine, Kingston town, Swing low, Here I am, Who you fighting for, The way you do the things you do , etc... I think I was about to cry at one point, lol! I know it's silly but the first three songs rocked my childhood and even part of my teenage years, lol!

There were some songs they didnt sing and I was disappointed, like Come back darling, I got you babe, Cover up. But oh well, i'm happy with what i got!

Bet that Aussie friend was not Dynamaso.  He made an EP while you were gone, and sent me the songs.  They are good!  One had a lot of obscenity, so I did not care for that one much, but the other 4 were very good!  If you ask him, he will send them to you.  And while not UB40, I bet he knows who they are!

But as far as getting groups out there, one has to wonder why anyone would not take a trip to an island paradise and get paid for it?  Talk about having your cake and eating it too!

Oh Em I love UB40 too! You got to see them live? Wow! Forget about that friend, he doesn't have your musical taste! I'm glad that didn't stop you from enjoying it!

Hehe, well to answer your question I think it has to do with entries. We're not an overpopulated island yet, heh! So the groups that do come here are have to be sure to make a lot of money. The population here is crazy about reggae thats why we get alot of reggae groups like Thrid World, Morgan Heritage and such!

I was actually surprised that he didnt know about them lol! I knew they were gonna be playing in Sydney and I was ready to fly over there to watch them, thank God they came by this way, hehe

The songs they are now mastering on the EP.  He is really good!  Not reggae, more of the Deborah Harry type of rap.

He did send me some hiphop, and yeah i love the sound of it Which reminds me I have to charge it to my MP3 player!
