Crashing after saving a designed ship

Help me stop the crashing...

Hey all, i'm a newbie to Gal Civ II but I think it's great. Only trouble is, every time i try to save this colony pod ship i design, it keeps crashing. I'm not sure if this happens with my other ship, but it shouldnt really crash with any ship. Does anyone know what the problem is?

If you have not updated to the latest version, please use Stardock Central to update to the latest version.

If you continue to have problems with crashing, please install SmartException from the Free Stuff tab in Stardock Central.

Make sure you have the latest version, then if you're still having a problem, at least we're ont eh same playing field.
