Are they really that bad compared to mages? I just got into the game a few days ago and did a good bit of reading up on the game before I started because the depth of these games required understanding. Most of what I saw though said that melee based classes were weak and that a powerful mage was the way to go. This leads me back to my base question: Are the melee classes really that bad? Because frankly I do not enjoy the feel of mages. They feel slow and boring, leading me to eventually giving up the game. The idea of taking my leader and running out into the middle of a group of enemies and killing them all is a bit more exciting though. Anyways, just wanted to see the general community response.

Also, on a side note..As far as mages go, is playing a summoner based mage any good? I think a summoner is about the only way I could see myself really playing mage as it seems slightly amusing.

Horrible late game, but that's only because regular units are so good. Game is over by mid game anyway. Warriors can give you an early game advantage in resources, clearing areas, etc. By late game they are better going in towns reducing unrest unless they have something special to them.

Hrrm. Maybe I'm just being lazy then. It's just early game, I feel like mage requires too much attention. It needs units to support it or else it can find itself in serious trouble. After playing a warrior though, I have seen that he is simply silly early game. Most the time, I'm running around with no units at all killing Strong and Deadly type creatures at level 6-7 without much issue. All it takes is a couple enchantments and some decent equipment and they run through everything without support. I guess I need to just step up and micromanage a mage.

Mages are always ripen with age and are rather useless right off the bat unless you are consuming shards and have flame dart or something similar to begin with.

If you spend a lot of time on warriors late game, they are still very useful. The only challenge is keeping them from taking hits from crushing blow or other one-shot-kill attacks.

Blade rush not only lets you damage multiples, it basically is a free teleport.

Load your warrior up with good plate mail (preferably champion armor). High defense and HP, and they can take some damage.

The decimate trait lets warriors do lots of damage to units of multiple troops.

Make sure they go in with other melee units, too. Another idea is to use summons to always give the AI a weak monster to target. Meanwhile, your warrior rips them apart.

If you can get a 28+ initiative on your warrior, you often can retreat after attacks to avoid hard hits.

Finally, compliment your warrior with a strong healer. If the warrior is getting punished, the healer keeps it alive to keep dealing damage.

Now that's a helpful reply. Kudo's!
