Champion Bonanza for Legendary Heroes

    - "I weave the material for the outfit of your doom." (Mhoorsh, Spider Demon Queen)
    - "I thirst for a life of eating and being served while lying on a mountain of cushions." (Lobrubrah, Troll Shaman)

Version 1.3 compatible with LH 2.0

304 new champions to add to your Legendary Heroes games to play in the sandbox with the official ones (269 original champions and 35 by Stardock).

- Updates all of the 114 "Custom Champions Collection" units to LH standards
- Adds 155 new champions
- Adds the 35 "missing" Fallen Enchantress Champions created by Stardock and used by kind permission
- Features 14 new monster champions such as Vaglutta (Assassin Demon), Cernulnos Stoneheart (Sand Golem) and Lobrubrah (Troll Shaman)
- Includes 3 new quests which give... (try guessing )... champions as a reward (bet you didn't see that one coming) and two random events with two unique monsters (mean and hungry of course).
- Also includes "Pillagers, Miscreants and Villains", an optional mini monster mod (6 new monsters and 5 monster lairs).

Here is the NexusMods page where it can be downloaded :

http://www.nexusmods.com/fallenenchantress/mods/1082/

********
Install instructions:

Extract the contents of the .zip file and place each folder as follows:

- Champion Bonanza ---> My Documents/My Games/LegendaryHeroes/Mods

- Champion Bonanza Medallions ---> My Documents/My Games/LegendaryHeroes/Mods/Gfx

Don't forget to "enable mods" and start a new game.

IMPORTANT NOTE #1: the file ChampionBonanzaDLC02.xml adds 6 champions with features from the Quest Pack DLC. Use this file ONLY if you have the DLC installed, otherwise the very foundation of the universe might be put in jeopardy.

IMPORTANT NOTE #2: the file ChampionBonanzaDLC04.xml adds 16 champions with features from the Dead World DLC. Use this file ONLY if you have the DLC installed, otherwise angry Undead types might come after you and yours.

To uninstall, simply delete the two folders.

*******
For Pillagers, Miscreants and Villains (optional install):

- Pillagers Miscreants and Villains --> My Documents/My Games/LegendaryHeroes/Mods

- Pillagers Miscreants and Villains Icons --> My Documents/My Games/LegendaryHeroes/Mods/Gfx

To uninstall, simply delete the two folders.

 ********

Alternate installation If you'd rather not run this as a mod:

Extract the contents of the .zip file and place each element into its appropriate folder:

- ChampionBonanza.xml ---> My Documents/My Games/LegendaryHeroes/Units

- ChampionBonanzaDLC02.xml ---> My Documents/My Games/LegendaryHeroes/Units - (once again use this additional file ONLY if you have the Quest Pack DLC installed).

- ChampionBonanzaDLC04.xml ---> My Documents/My Games/LegendaryHeroes/Units - (once again use this additional file ONLY if you have the Dead World DLC installed).

- FallenEnchantressChampions.xml ---> My Documents/My Games/LegendaryHeroes/Units

- The 15 .png medallions (example Medallion_Forgeron.png) ---> My Documents/My Games/LegendaryHeroes/Units/Icons - (required for the monster champions or they won't have a portrait)

- BonanzaQuests.xml ---> My Documents/My Games/LegendaryHeroes/Quests

- BonanzaEvents.xml ---> My Documents/My Games/LegendaryHeroes/Quests

To uninstall, just delete all the files.

********

Once the files have found their new home, restart the game and get ready for an invasion of new champions. No game rules are changed, it's only additional content.

The purpose of this mod is only to add diversity to the game and isn't meant to upset any sort of balance. The new champions should have the same number of abilities as their official counterparts. So typically:

Level 1: 2 skills, very rarely 3
Level 3: Path + 2 skills, rarely 3
Level 5: Path + 4 skills, very rarely 5
Level 7: Path + 6 skills, very rarely 7
Level 9: Path + 9 skills

Champions who don't have a blood type which gives bonuses (i.e. Altarian Blood) get a few more abilities to compensate (Elemental, Twisted, Undead..).
Some champions don't follow their skill tree to the letter and get access to some abilities a bit sooner, usually to fit a specific theme. In the majority of cases, they are dead end skills anyway. Hey, if the official champs can do it, so can these new guys and gals.

I've uploaded a list of all the champions in the image section with their stats (minus the equipment because I'm... well just because). Color blue for the version 1 champions, sickly greenish color for the 1.1 recruits and tangerine (ha) for the 1.2 rookies.

Optional files:

- Champion Bonanza compatible with Children of Storm

- Champion Bonanza compatible with Patchwork Mod. Many thanks to Webusver for his vision and patching magic.

- Champion Bonanza compatible with Patchwork Mod AND Children of Storm. Also works with Demons and Wizards (requires Webusver's compatibility patch to be found on the Patchwork Mod page).

Ok I think I'm done, hope you enjoy.

Updated to version 1.1

    - Adds 46 more champions for a total of 219.
    - Includes two new random events which spawn two unique monsters: Yellowbelly and the Amethyst Automaton.

I've concentrated mostly on expanding the lower levels (1, 3 and 5) in this update. The AI players almost always reach these fame milestones so I've added variety where I thought it was most needed.
6 of the new champions have features from the Quest Pack DLC and come in a separate file to be used only if you have the aforementioned DLC installed. Otherwise strange and spooky things might happen.
The random events are completely optional seeing as you might not care for two extra "I will be cautious of this creature's passing" type of monsters. If you don't want them (but you do don't you?), simply don't install the BonanzaEvents file.

Oh, an update.

Just did two playthroughs with this installed, well done. The standard champions were too familiar to be exciting. I like the freed krax slave champion.

Imitation is the sincerest flattery, since playing this I have some ideas for making my own champion pack. Cheers.

The more the merrier! I look forward to the expanding roster of champs.

It might be possible to change the higher level fame milestones by changing in the core files the Fame Milestones Spawn Ratings which have -1 (all heroes available) to 9 (level 9 heroes only).

What about changing it to level 12, and deploying another wave of even stronger champions?

Well, as long as the Spawn Ratings aren't hard-coded to 1/3/5/7/9/-1, that should be possible.  Someone would need to make these champions.

They're not hard coded I've tested in the past, pretty sure it should work fine.

I've uploaded a Children of Storm compatible version in case you wish to use CB with COS. If you already have the 1.1 version installed, you only need to replace the ChampionBonanza.xml and the ChampionBonanzaDLC02.xml files.

I had expected to add all those extra tags slowly over the coming week but Notepad ++ is such a efficient application.

Many thanks to Heavenfall who promptly responded to my questions.

Great idea. I just might take a look at it in the coming weeks unless someone else wants to do it.

A solution Stardock could implement is that after you receive the L9 choice (400), any heroes after come from the whole available pool, and get extra levels that would be added like when a Henchmen starts at a higher level (ie. no bonus XP - just complete extra levels).  So at 800/1600/3200/6400 fame milestones (which are all the ones programmed and probably all you'd ever need in one map) you could level up a hero from the predesigned level up to L12/L16/L21/L27 respectively.  This would make lower level choices a more attractive option, as although you won't get equipment that is as good, you get to custom level your champ from their current level to the higher level.  So you would weigh up the starting skills, and choose the one you like the most and then level them up.

See my suggestion to Stardock here:

Now presenting Champion Bonanza compatible with Patchwork Mod.

All 219 champions have been updated to Patchwork Mod specifications with changes to stats, additional skills and equipment.

Then Webusver worked his patching magic to provide a compatible version with Demons & Wizards for those who wish to use both in the Patchwork Mod universe. Further instructions to be found within.

Pertaining to CB install instructions, running this version as a mod is probably the best way to go rather than placing each XML file in its own folder. The same rules for the "ChampionBonanzaDLC02.xml" file still apply, if you don't have the Quest Pack DLC installed then delete this file (otherwise kaboom).

It can be downloaded in the optional files section on Nexus.

Once again, many thanks to Webusver for his great ideas and enthusiasm. The true meaning of collaboration.

Hello, Hellions!

It was also a great pleasure to work with you too! Great thanks for patient and creative work!

You also greatly helped me in finishing the huge project. Now lots of mods are compatible with Patchwork mod. Some of them were even not compatible in vanilla game.

These mods are now compatible:
1. Champion Bonanza
2. Black Market Bazaar
3. River Bridge
4. Swamp Tiles
5. Demons and Wizards
6. Necromancy Revamped

I plan to finish soon compatibility process with Heroic Pursuits and perhaps Path of Ranger.

I suggest also to keep an eye on Dhuran's  Necromancy Revamped mod. He said he has interesting ideas.

This will be a huge universe for truly Legendary Heroes and I'm especially glad that you modified your heroes yourself because you better feel them. If I would try to make any modifications, I could only do some mechanical job without feel of designation of any hero.

Thanks again! I was the first lucky downloader of the new mod  http://www.nexusmods.com/fallenenchantress/mods/1082/?  I hope that gameplay will be great!

Best regards,
Webusver

If I'm using both children of the storm (some parts) and patchwork mod, which of the downloads must I use? the vanilla one, the patchwork one or the children one?

Thanks!

That depends fow much of Children of the Storm you use. Children of the storm introduced another than vanilla critaria which determine who or what is the particular creature. I think that if you use Patchwork mod, you should use Patchwork version of heroes. If you have patchworked vanilla heroes, then you should use Patchwork version of heroes. If you have CoS heroes, then better use CoS version of heroes. That's imho.

Not enough praise for this mod on this thread. So here I go:

This mod is awesome, champion selection is way better with it. Who are these people playing Legendary Heroes without Champion Bonanza?

Puh-lease, brah.

Of course if you take the CoS version.

I didn't just specify CoS, though. I included XtraDeconstruct. And it pays to be sure about adding mods to one another in advance.

I don't see any files in XtraDeconstruct which would be incompatible with Champion Bonanza but I think it's safer to ask Primal_Savage directly. I will use a "Summon Primal_Savage" scroll and attempt to bring him to this thread.

Well, he does get around on these boards, but I suppose I can also do an invocation in his XtraDeconstruct thread.

Updated to version 1.2 compatible with LH 1.6

1.2 Changelog
- 34 additional champions for a total of 253
- All level 9 champions updated to 10 skills (just like their official counterparts)
- The Amethyst Automaton gains the Uncontrolled Rage ability & the reward for defeating it is increased to 350 gold (was 250)
- Fixed Yellowbelly's treasure drop by removing the Skath Fin which sometimes replaced the intended rare item (instead of getting both, you'd get only one)
- Fixed some typos and probably added a few others
- Booyah
