Well if LH turns out to be anything like Elemental or FE...the update will probably be quite critical.
Many have made the difference in the game being playable or unplayable due to crashes.
A few months ago when I was last playing FE they were still working on some of the basic gameplay aspects and around 1.3-1.32 area were working on a massive overhaul on the AI.
When I first started playing the AI was mostly dumb, and as long as you had a comparable kingdom rating they left you alone 90% of the time.
So once you got the hang of the game and kept a good pace it was easy mode.
However after they, frogboy, started working on the AI it started becoming MUCH more challenging, and after a few updates became quite intelligent and much more difficult to overcome.
I enjoyed the game at that point but wasnt able to continue playing as the higher difficulties quickly became impossible.
One step down from Expert and I could keep ahead of the other kingdoms and consistently win.
However on Expert the other kingdoms raced ahead of me at a ridiculous pace, and when I first put together my early game armies and 1st made contact with the other kingdoms they were 3-4 times my strength and by the time I had my starting area somewhat cleared of monsters and on my 3-4th city they were marching around with several mid-game strength armies...(WTF?)
But during a game when I was expanding rapidly and building up quickly and taking full use of magic and enchantments...I was at the point where a Greater Wolf was a serious challenge ( Was just my Sovereign and the starting hero with a few militias ) the other kingdoms had chain wearing spearmen armies with upgraded unit sizes, some kingdoms even had chain wearing horsemen with upgraded group size.
I ran through 3-4 times improving my expansion speed and efficiency and still it was like playing having spotted the other kingdoms 30-50 turns, with their advantage exponentially growing. ( It really felt like playing an opponent that had zero monsters in their starting areas where they could just rapidly expand without being attacked or having to defend anything and were still given a 25 turn advantage over me )
So while granted some of the patches I played were beta patches but they made an extreme difference in how the game played, and that isnt even talking about bugs and crashes. ( Some patch versions crashed on me constantly and were unplayable, others I would only crash once every 4-5 hours, others I never crashed once )
