I played the game through to the bitter end. Overall it was fun, but I do have some specific suggestions to give.
This was using the default settings. I don't remember if I bumped up the AI or left it at normal.
Some of these issues may be related to play style. This is also based off one game only.
The start was fun.
[DESIGN/AI] The mid game really lagged for me. The AI had significantly more score/units/everything than I did, but they failed to capitalize on it. I ended up hitting end turn about 100 times just building up my civ and tech so that my units could gain strength enough to take one of their cities. I didn't see any quests available to me or any obvious way to get any, so I was just burning up time. Part of that may have been the passive AI, I should have disappeared before I got that far behind. If this was because of a normal AI, that's probably OK and my fault
[AI] Once I started attacking them (they were also battling each other) I found it amazingly easy to take over the map. They were very passive, You would think (hint) that the AI would prioritize attacking me, the stronger opponent who had just taken their city, but they kept attacking the weaker player while I went though their midsection and took out their capital.
[BUG]I hit 2 towns in the end game that had people lining up the the woods and on the hill THAT I COULD NOT REACH. If you're putting units on a map, you should either let me retreat or be able to reach them by melee.
[DESIGN]It is no fun watching the counter count down for 10 turns, that's like the 'rebooting in 10 seconds' countdowns they used to have. Please consider putting a marker over every city that has a tower required to cast the master spell when the tower is created. Also announce the towns, That would give people a chance to stop the countdown instead of just watching it count down.
[AI]When someone starts casting the master spell, it should be a dog pile. I started casting it and had the fun of watching the counter count up to 10. <yawn> I had them outnumbered, but it would have been fun to watch them try to take things back.
That's it. It was my first play through, and it was relatively free of major bugs and, most importantly 'fun.'
