I don't know if you were intending this, but the shieldman can be trained even without researching shields.
You removed the autocreateequipment, but maybe forgot to add a woodenshield to the equipment section to force a shield on this henchman.
It is known. I believe this was due to the Shieldman having the same equipment tag as a Champion.
Yes. But the fix was to allow the ability to make a shieldman without a shield. I was curious if it was an oversight to not give the shieldman a shield (unit shield).
Early game units are all Meat Shields anyway.
