Congratulations on a great game, much improved over War of Magic, I am spending far too much time playing it already!
I would like to suggest an improvement based on many years playing hex and counter wargames, which is to give armies a "zone of control" depending on their size.
Enemy movement should be inhibited in this area, a bit like the present caltrops option, and there should be no speedy movement along any roads. This would prevent the rather bizarre situation we now have of units scurrying past huge powerful forces that would in reality dominate the surrounding area, certainly the roads!
