I'm playing as an empire race of Men with the Legacy of Serrane, Defensive, and Death worship faction traits and don't have broad swords for some reason. Should be unlocked by weaponsmithing, but it's not there.
It's Legacy of Serrane. I'm guessing they were supposed get a replacement, silver broadsword, at some point but then they got ditched.
That makes perfect sense, as Capitar's descriptions are constantly talking about silver swords.
