Injuries in champions is, IMO, a controversial feature. On one hand, it seems a price to pay to justify their immortality. On the other hand, it doesn't matter if a hero dies, or takes an injury (and loses the XP), because many people will just load a savegame...who wants those red blurs?
But suposing you don't, as it is stated, getting more and more injuries makes them so crippled that may get useless for the rest of the game...You can always use the "Stealth Spirit" spell as a way to end their suffering.... And it is sad to see an enemy hero with many injuries too...
So, my suggestions are:
- Permadeath toggle. Each player decide for each game if using the injuries system or permanent death ...
- An accesible way to heal injuries at an affordable cost (a potion, a scroll,...). For example, after building the Herbalist, it could be available at the shop. It is said there is a potion or something that heals injuries, but I never saw it.
- Time duration for injuries. For example, 20+ (level of hero) turns. After it, they heal...This could allow some people (me included) to accept injuries, instead of loading a save.
- A variation of the previous one: Each turn, a hero has a +1% of healing an injury. So after a certain number of turns, the injuries will heal. It would be so nice to receive a pop up saying: "Your Hero XXX has healed his gangrene hand".... I really like this...
- Scaling injuries. For example, I, II and III (light, moderate and severe injury). First injury makes a little loss, like the -1 initiative injury. Or 5% lost HP (instead of 10%). So it gives not so much pain to play an injured hero. But, each one gives a chance of next injury to be a more severe version (like -2 initiative, -10% HP, and so). Getting a severe injury could here add a % of permadeath too...
- A combination of the 2 previous: scaling injuries, and a % of healing over time...so a severe injury may go to moderate, then to light....
I mean, isn't it a World of Magic? Then, why injuries are so permanent? Give us a real hope to heal them...
