I just had Kraxis surrender for no apparent reason. I am playing on hard and have chosen the option to never have the AI surrender. In spite of this and the fact that he had an ample faction power, was only at war with one faction, had many cities, had plenty of resources, he surrendered. It is funny because the faction he was at war with was Resoln and he only went to war with her because her faction power went to about 50 after losing her last city. He was doing a simple cleanup of her remaining outposts and for some reason decided to rage quit.
This is wrong on a couple of levels. First off I specifically set the game to play without surrenders because I just don't like how it is done. So having any is definitely a bug there. Secondly he was winning the war. WTF would he surrender? Must be a bug. Then, he declared war on an empire because she was weak. This should not be happening from a diplomatic faction, the diplomatic faction. If anything, he should be buddying up to her so that when she surrenders he inherits all her remaining assets. That is the way of a snake like Karavox. Declaring war means he hurts relations with all other empire factions and looks like a bad guy to the kingdoms for backstabbing a fellow faction.
Would it be possible to look at these three problems this weekend? I know Frogboy is playing. Could be good to go over some diplomacy interactions before the game goes gold.
