Settlement Types Complaint

I like the settlement specialization but I have two complaints regarding it. The first is, when we're asked to choose between Town, Fortress or Conclave, we have no way to look at the city and its contributing resources to determine which type the city could be. Nor do we have any way to know what other settlement types we have already chosen for other settlements. These are MOST annoying for me because A) my memory isn't the greatest and especially after resuming a saved game I can't remember what I have or what a settlement will be best at.

My second complaint is that there is no where on the settlement HUD or on the Detail screen that tells you which type the city is. I know the medallion takes a shape based on the choice, but until you learn the shapes, you don't know what they are.

I understand this is a relatively new feature, but PLEASE us older, memory challenged TBS players need help and information to make intelligent decisions!!!!!

Not being able to see what the city could produce have always been a problem throughout the beta ^^

there is no where on the settlement HUD or on the Detail screen that tells you which type the city is.

The city type is listed on the "Improvements" panel in the low left-hand corner of the "Details" screen. Not the most obvious place, but it's there.

I would love to see it in a more obvious place, like in, a place where all city level upgrades are listed.

I would also like to be able to check out my city before I decide how to level it. Maybe allow us to defer leveling?

I believe the city icon changes shape, ie for fortress the icon changes to a shield shape in the hud.

I did notice the change in shape, but I could not figure out what the shapes mean.

Fortresses are the easiest to figure out, as they're the ones with the shield icon. Towns and conclaves could be a little clearer, but towns turn into squares, and conclaves turn into stars.

While I agree that the UI can be improved, I have a simple workaround that I have been using since Beta 3, when you still wanted to know a bit more about your city before you choose the improvement.

I simply name my cities with their function: Factory IV, Conclave II, Manafont, Bootcamp.

Ugh, people who name their cities like that bother me to no end. Just keep a notepad and pencil handy and manage your damn empires. It's really not that difficult to keep some lore in the real world. I remember making my own maps and city records in almost any other game. I am very dissapointed in the lack of imagination a city function namer has to live with. How do you stay immersed?

Easy. I picture most of my sovereigns as Lawful Evil tyrants who will sacrifice their own mother to efficiency. Hell, all of my heroes get renamed as well. I my current game, I have Araine the Cloudwalker, Magar the Plateclad, Draxus the Mauler.

It has been done in real life, you know? By not very nice guys, who took their countries not very nice places.

One thing I do to help me out with this is I just rename my city to the function it has. For instance:

Tan-ta-Kreet-RS, Tan-ta-Kreet-FT, Tan-Ta-Kreet-$

I would like to see the ability to revert a town (even if it means shrinking back to level 2 for the town and losing buildings) so I can pick a different specialization. I also like the idea of being able to preview the town before you pick fort/town/conclave

I am creatively boring with my city names. My first town is always named Townsville, fortresses are named First/West/Rear/etc Guard, and I normally don't bother renaming my conclaves, unless RNG was particularly terrible.

I would also like to be able to see the strategic map. Some city locations are ideal to become a fort because they are the most likely cities to get attacked. I understand I can change the name to reflect what the option is but I just don't like that. I should be able to make the decision based on the information that I should have.
