I feel it is a legitimate question.

If everyone did this, there would be no need for galleries or moderators on WC. Just links to off site content.

The link takes you to a blogging site, not necessarily a graphics art site.

 Yeah, I just had a real good look, it's a weird site and this person has been posting this kind of stuff for over 6 years here at WC.

It's a good question, we have a wallpaper gallery here that gets hundreds of thousands of views per month.

If you have an issue with a question being asked, there *is* a place to discuss that.

I asked the same question here: http://forums.wincustomize.com/429008 and got no reply. I asked the question with good intentions. Good work should be in the WC gallery where it can be seen by all.

valid points, but.... there really is no difference between this and advertising a skin for sale at another site when it is not uploaded here. Just sayin...

No comparison at all Phoon, as most of those skins eventually end up right here on WC after a while I have seen. This person is using a blog site that advertises and contains a lot more than skinning material. Using a blog site is fine and while their work is really good, there is no reason at all to strictly link to it from here when you can upload it here just as easily. It just seems there is more to someones agenda here to me. They also ignore and do not answer the questions posed to them as to why they do not want to upload here. They did in the past with Xion skins, so why not now with wallpapers? This persons work is also on several other sites, including devArt. Whole thing is really odd.

Agree.

Also, this is a crossover thread from JoeUser, so it's not as if it was originally posted in or intended for WC. I would think it would be more a matter for JoeUser mods to decide if it is a violation of their policy to post a link to a wallpaper or blog. Seeing how JU's 'categories/topics' cover just about everything, I don't personally see an issue.

I link to WC and JoeUser on every page of my blog and have been for years.
I am posting on more than one site.
I do upload some of my work to WC.

Iben, I would really welcome your work here. I'm not a Gallery Mod and couldn't say whether they'd be accepted to the Wallpaper Gallery, but I think they would. After all, we accept Po'Smedley's.

I refrained from commenting on your prior thread, but the same question was asked of you there and while I might have missed an answer, I don't remember seeing one... so I joined [as a regular member] in asking the same question here.

Iben, your work is really quite good, I just cannot understand why you just don't upload it directly to WC.  Your past work that you submitted here in 2005 and earlier was really good also, you have always done quality work. I guess it's up to you though. Nuff' said.

I have made "Skyline2".
The Nebula Orion Skyline after the shock wave has passed.
You would probably see no difference in the thumb nails
but a noticeable difference if you go full screen and compare.

I am going to probably start working on Orion City next.

My 2 cents is that this is a way to bypass moderation. I have seen this halted in the past. I think I was reprimanded for it once.

 

I don't understand why it is allowed now, but I guess the guys in charge know.
