Oh noes! Well, I guess I'll just click on the alert sign and be taken to the place it happened, right? Hmm, that didn't do it. Let me try that again... Oops, the alert is now gone. Now let's see, which one of the dozen outposts that I had was the one attacked and how can I find it if it doesn't show up anymore?

There has to be a better way of implementing this alert system especially for mid or late game when your territory has expanded.

If there's actually a way to do this already and I'm missing it, then please let me know.

Agree. Better alerting, reporting, and showing of the information is needed.

I want to see a pair of buttons on those popups.

 

One that says "Show Me!" and takes you there.

 

One that says "That really sucks... Oh well" and closes the window.

I think a third button that says "nuke whoever did this"! would be a good option too.
