Friday Night Poll: 64-bit DLC

64bit operating systems (like Windows 7-64bit) pave the way to expanding games in interesting ways.  Bigger worlds, more players, more unit types, more stuff.  It wouldn’t be fair to those who don’t have 64-bit OSes to have to pay for features and content they can’t use.

So the question is, would you support the creation of future DLC that is only available to those who have 64-bit?

Where is the I don't have 64 bit but I still like the Idea option? (fine with games slowly moving over to 64 bit so fine with this and picked option have 64 bit and like it). Not sure about full games with the restriction this year or the next but in perspective sure and nothing to be said against DLC supporting only that (as long as the main game doesn't suffer for everyone else...)

By DLC you mean just extra stuff for the 64 bit version, or payed extra stuff?

Yep, definitely.  Particularly the part about more unit types and more stuff.

First the game has to get better then we will see if it is worth it.  It should already be in 64 bit so no for core game stuff and maybe yes for extras.

If it's up to 10% of the game price, yes for sure, I want bigger maps and more players.

If it's between 10% and 20%, yes if 64bit DLC comes with some extra stuff (as you said, things such as more unit types and so)

If it's more than 20%, probably not.

Darn spanking tooting right I would support 64-bit DLC, I would support it with all of my heart.

If the game delivers, and such a DLC could be a step to get more content, units etc., then yes.

I have 64 bit, so yeah, I support it... but really, DLC for bigger worlds and more players? That's kinda sad isn't it? So basically, we're talking about a map generator DLCs now? Not so sure how I feel about that. I'll just hope it's more of the more unit type and "stuff" kind of DLC instead I guess.

I have 64 Bit OS, and depending upon the DLC I may or may not purchase. Ultimately it depends upon the content.

My preference is to buy an entire package at once, but, good DLC is good DLC.

I voted:  "I don't have 64 bit, I don't care".

I not only don't have 64 bit, now; but I don't expect to have it within the near term (say the next 6 months).  (Of course, if I live long enough, who knows ??    ... although, I swear, Apple PC's are looking better and better.)

By the same token, I would not wish to limit anyone else's enjoyment.  Each person should get the best game they can, dependent on what Stardock can afford to offer them.  On the other hand, I would tend to agree with what I think Blackmantle and Bellack are suggesting above -- I want to see the current version   fixed, and finished, and polished  first.   Then I would certainly have no objection to Stardock extending the franchise, any way they want !     And may the Deities of Computer Programming smile upon them ...

where is the "I don't have 64-bit BUT I support the idea even if I won't get it"

no, I don't like the idea - there is no choice for those who don't have 64-bit systems, they'll just won't be able to play it

the question may be reversed : would you take the risk of excluding part of potential players for the sake of technology ?

it is true that one has to look forward and take advantage of available technologies

Origin did it, but they had a Looking Glass

Wow! I love the idea! I would pay top dollar because it would be worth it to me. Really hoping for DLC and numerous expansions as well. The newest game I play is Starcraft and am downloading Warlock next week. I want to use my quad core!

Does this mean there's a 64 bit version of the game? I don't see how you can add 64 bit DLC to a 32 bit version of the game, and I *really* don't see how DLC could be used to make the game 64 bit given just how significant a change that actually is.

If the 64 bit version is already planned, then by all means use the extra power to do crazy awesome things in DLC.

Yeah... How can we have 64bit only content if there's no 64 bit version of the game??

Does 64-bit DLC mean like say, a $5 DLC that redesigns the game to use what 64-bit provides?

Voted yes/yes, but would be price dependent.  The game runs really smoothly (outside of bugs/glitches/UI issues) and manages to not overheat my newer laptop.

When are you guys going to announce your future plans?  Because of this crummy laptop, I may be in the market for a new one this year.

I voted 'I have 64bit, I like this idea' because I'm going to have 64bit soon, and would very much love to see this in action.
