OK one thing I have noticed with this current Beta is that spells like pillar of fire and vetrars howl no longer kill units - they reduce a unit to zero hitpoints but the unit is not removed - in fact groups remain full size in tactical battles - I cant work out if this is a bug or a deliberate design choice but either way I hate it. Units definitely died in the previous beta and that was the point of it. Also Vetrar's howl is misleading because it refers to a radius of effect which is actually just 1 square, when you could be forgiven for thinking it means it hits nine squares.
Whats the point in having tac nuke spells that dont kill units? These spells are actually more important now movement is totally nerfed as sometimes you won't be able to send an army to intercept attackers in time. Plus its underwhelming when you spend 140 mana on a super spell and it doesnt actually kill one unit. I REALLY hate this change - teach the AI to use these spells rather than nerf them into oblivion.
Sorry about the rant but this is one change I definitely do not welcome and it wasnt like this in the old beta
