Ive tried downloading the Fallen Enchantress installer 4 or 5 times now and each time it says the file is corrupt when it gets to the end of the extraction after ive tried to run the setup. Is their an alternative download anywhere?

Thanks for any help!

I've seen reports of this and I have no idea what causes this.

Let me whine to my IT guys and see what they say.

The most likely culprit is bad RAM. This can have corrupted a few bytes of the download or it could be corrupting things during the extract operation. Had it happen last week with one of the developer laptops.

Windows 7/Vista include a Windows Memory Diagnostic (forget the name on Vista) that does an excellent job of checking for that.

I am emailing Erzeal separately with something more technical to try (to see if the download is already corrupt) + an alternative set of files to download.

I had that issue with the .86 installer and in my case; the solution was to temporarily disable my firewall, IDS and antivirus.

YMMV though - I just figured I would share my personal experience as it is not unheard of for security products to cause such issues and I did not see that possibility mentioned.

Note: I did not report this issue as I am quite confident the issue I had was related to the version/instance of my firewall, antivirus or IDS and NOT with the install mechanism and/or web-server. The issue was clearly a configuration issue on my end.

FWIW - I am running:

  • MBAM (Malware Bytes AntiMalware)
  • Microsoft Security Essentials
  • Private Firewall

I believe my issue was specifically the version/install of Private Firewall. I doubt I could duplicate it at this point as I upgraded it shortly after discovering that disabling all the above fixed the issue.
