When an enemy army knocks down one of my assets, I get a popup that something was destroyed ... somewhere.  Usually the message says something like "to the northeast".  Northeast of what?  My sovereign?  My capital?  Seems to be relative to the capital, and I get the "northeast" message even if it's 80 tiles east and 1 tile north.

The message is nice for flavor, but it would be really nice if (1) it was a notification, not a popup, and (2) clicking the notification showed me what had been destroyed (by highlighting it, or maybe displaying an icon / emblem on the map where it used to be).  Especially as my empire gets larger, I find it harder to remember what used to be there and compare against what currently is.
