Downloaded .88, started a game.  Got the same sparkly artifacts on the map and in the blank spaces as I had with .85.  Chose my research subject, then was simply mousing over various locations to see what was around, and the video failed.  Screen went black, with just the cursor visible--but, when I moved the mouse, the cursor disappeared also.

After a couple minutes, I Alt/Tab/Deleted to close the game and I got the message regarding the video driver failing.  I REALLY want to play this, and it's so annoying that I can't.

No crash file this time, but I've uploaded the debug.err
