Hi folks, I'm gonna talk about prestige, how it works and how it could be improved.
Right now, Prestige is acquired from 3 sources (that I'm aware of)
- Sovereign- 1/2 your sovereign level goes to prestige
- Trophies- (I don't know how much because I've yet to see wildlands after games of 300-400 turn length)
- Administrative Heroes- Adds 1 prestige.
Prestige is currently the population growth mechanic. Your total prestige is divided amongst all your cities and that determines your population growth for that city. Population growth can further be increased by buildings such as the inn.
Issues
- It is difficult to acquire prestige in the current system without sacrificing a hero's martial prowess.
- Growth amongst all cities is constant (i.e split prestige).
- Having multiple cities can be crippling to economy. They need protection and with the splitting of growth rates, it will take a very long time before you can afford to defend another city.
Suggestions
- Upon reaching level 4 (choosing profession): a hero should add 1 prestige. Upon reaching level 8, the hero should add 2 prestige.
- Prestige should be a bonus to growth rate. Let the base growth rate be determined by the number of food (maybe its called grains, the food symbol on the map). So if I founded my city on a 4 food tile, then I would grow at 4 people per turn. Prestige will still be divided amongst cities but its now a bonus so having multiple cities doesn't cripple a player's economy.
