Black Squares

I,m getting black squares and a general slow down of the game. As this is just the BETA I sort of expect this. That said anyone experiencing this or have a easy work around?

I've got 1.2c and I've only seen it when i created a custom map and accidentally tried to put a river tile down. It didn't show up in the forge, so i wasn't sure it did anything until i notice two persistent, conspicuous, black squares. In your case it probably means the game has confused itself and forgotten how to get the right icon (sort of like when a character portrait changes, or the background disappears). I'm not sure why it happens, or what the inevitable fix is or when it will come, but a simple save and restart should clear it up.

After a few months hiatus due to work, I recently played 1.2a and I did get the black squares...on normal noncustom maps.

Also, CTDs seem to have a higher occurrence rate...for me anyway.

Please post your debug.err file for the devs to see, in case it provides any useful information about this issue.

I usually see the black squares after several hundred turns. It seems to be part of the memory issues in the game. Or it could be a resource leak, like graphics handles not being closed properly.

I get a lot of missing graphics at that point not just a few squares.

I've seen this problem in every version since the release. 1.1 for sure, and 1.3 for sure because I just finished a game.
