In 1.3 I would like to see the different races start to become more unique so that when you are playing the fraction A, it plays differently from the other races.
To do this I suggest starting with one race - the Trogs and give them unique dialogs, technology, buildings and spells that are not available to the other races. After this is done I would start to tweak the AI to make the Trog AI play different from the other AIs.
Example:
1. Since the Trogs are stronger than other races why not give them access to unique heavy weapons that only units of the Trog race can wield. Example: Trogs may use an extremely heavy two handed mace. Troops of other races can't use this weapon because they lack the physical strength.
2. Give the Trog soveregn a minimum stat for strength. If you are a trog sovereign you cannot reduce your strength below this minimum to gain points in other areas (dexterity, intelligence, etc).
3. Give the trogs immediate access to unique technology trees; that only trogs can research.
4. - Trog Weapons: This technology area unlocks weapons that are unique to the Trog race.
Unlocks Battle Net and Trident
5. - Trog Combat School: This rechnology unlocks a unique buildings that is unique to the Trog race.
Battle School - a building unique to trogs that reduces population growth by 2 but gives trog units a 10% bonus to hit points as Trog battle schools kill off the weak and toughen the strong (i.e. Ancient Sparta). Stacks with HP bonuses from other technology advances.
6. - Combat Magic - A magic school that Trog magic users study. This school is focused on tactical magic that improves the courage and strength of combat units. Those of the Trog race have early access to this book of magic, while other races must master it through research.
7. For Trog Diplomacy, assume that they respect the physically strong more than the physically weak. Reflect this in the diplomacy dialogues that pop-up when dealing with Trogs. I.e. a Sovereign with low strength will suffer a penalty when engaging in diplomacy with trogs or attempting to recruit them.
8. Give Trog combat units a +2 bonus to strength to reflect their physical strength.
