1) In some cases while playing (I haven't found out when, if/when I find a way to recreate it I'll edit) most of the game, mainly the UI, turns black. It's still there, but you can't really see it. Restarting the game helps.
2) The power ratings for AI and myself are strange- while it says he is way stronger than me (15 times+). This caused the AI to wage war, but in a hundred turns he didn't try to attack me. After some time I went and beat him senseless.
3) Autobattle bug- I have a group of units that pretty much 1 shot everything (50 attack, roughly 30 armor), and I have a group of 12. Normally, hitting anything kills it, or atleast gets it down to it's last hit points. I cast berserk on the group in battle (they do about 2K damage to a 600 health targets) and went auto, and lost! looking at the log I found out that they did about 200-300 damage.
part of the log:
wardens= 540 att, 274 def. others=476 att, 122 def.
pre auto: my units do roughly 200 damage without berserk. With berserk, their attack jumped to 3223 (a bug by itself?) and they do 2000 damage.
Autobattle: wardens hit dukes for 248. dukes counter for 218.
As it seems, the berserk went off when I pressed the auto battle.
4) Balance: The game is based greatly on rare resources- with a couple of food places, you can have lots of research. This is easy to come by, as you start with one for the capital. But having a large enough income of the other resources can be frustrating.
5) Spells, and heroes, become useless with the game: The game is called War of Magic, but magic is of little rule in the game. Endgame, a single unit can go toe to toe with a sovereign, and the sovereign, strong as he is, won't be able to scratch it because his arsenal is weak. The balance is early game, but when you start training groups the spells just don't hold for two reasons: a) The offensive spells do less than 10% of the enemy hit points, making it a waste of mana.
The good buff/debuff spells cost lots of mana. Unless a person is controlling multiple shards, he does not have the breath to face more than a battle or two. The physical heroes being only slightly stronger than average unit cannot stand up against properly equipped and grouped units. Having 4 spellbooks require you to control shards in order to be able to use them does not help.
Both 4 and 5 leads to the player having to play expansionist, way more than in civ or any other game in order to collect the rare resources. Otherwise, he will suffer in the endgame.
