Idea to prevent/reduce spell spamming.

Came up with this in the morning.

Rule: you can only cast a spell in a battle x number of times in a battle.

X is your spell level / level of the spell.

If you have spell level 4, you can cast a lvl 1 spell 4 times, lvl 2 twice, level 3 or 4 once.

lvl 0 spells have no limit.

To me, this would encourage researching a breadth of spells, not just spam arcane arrow/spell blast/touch of entropy.

I think a better way to encourage diversity in spell use would be to make other spells worth casting. Balancing the cost/damage of the offensive spells or introducing resistances to specific spell books would be much more interesting ways of promoting the use of other spells

I think spell cost balance will remove a lot of these issues. It might be easier to cast Arcane Arrow 7 times in one battle and not risk getting hit or losing a unit, but if the spell cost is correctly balanced, using it 7 times in one battle should cripple your mana pool in the early game.
