I have been playing elemental from the start and played through all the beta versions. I am now at a point where I love this game. However, there are a few things that annoy me personally that I have not seen elsewhere so I figure why not put them in a list, maybe others agree.
1. City leveling: Do you want extra tech, arcane research, gildar or random unit? Why can't the dialog window display current tech, arcane research, gildar product and defensive capabilities? That way I can make an informed decision rather than trying to remember what that city was good at.
2. Eagle eye: I love this spell but it only sees 6 squares around my character which is only one more than my sovereign can see. This spell needs to expand out as your magic ability expands or as the number of air shards (or whatever) increases. Either that or we need a map scrying spell so that we can fill in the parts of the map that are unknown to my armies.
3. Upgrade armies. Why can't we take a standard company and upgrade them to a better unit. For example squad with crude bow should be upgradeable to cedar bows.
4. There should be a dialog which shows you a list of all your heroes - click on them and you are taken to that location of the map. (if there is a function already I haven't found it). Yesterday I was playing a large map I had conquered so many cities that the list of city and unit icons didn't fit down the left hand side, it was a bugger trying to find my stationed sovereign.
5.If I have a sovereign that does not have mobility spell book - why can I not research that book later?
6. Other civs are always telling me to get off my land, why can't I do the same to them? Why can't I intimidate the other civ to give me some money?
7. If i have a non agression pact - I should be able to break it somehow, or at least stipulate how many seasopns I want it to be in effect.
8. Events: I will see a message like caravan was attacked or resource destroyed south west of xyz. Where? how do I find it? Those events should be listed as small icons along the right so that when you click on them you are taken to the location where they occured.
9. Auto manage a city. Big ask but in the mid to late game I usually can't be arsed administrating all my cities. Why can't I appoint an AI mayor to run the place. Maybe put on some constraints so they don't build a crap city.
I am really enjoying this game now and as I see it it will live up to the expectations I had before hand. I commend the developers for their attitude, it can't have been easy releasing a game they worked hard on, and then to get such critical feedback. However, they have taken it on the chin and set about fixing and improving it. I hope it is a financial success for them and the RPG/4X genre makes a grand come back. RIP MOM the successor is almost here.
