I found several of the bugs I experienced during the beta quite humorous in hindsight. I'm sure Stardock's spent a huge amount of effort tracking these down, many have been fixed and I'm sure more will be before 1.1 comes out. So far, in the beta they have fixed over 80% of the bugs I've noticed. Some of the more recent ones are here.
Bugoff, the sovereign began his adventures in the old destroyed world of Boon (beta one oh nine).
Bugoff was a smart sovereign, when he decided what equipment he needed, he noticed a shopkeeper selling a spear for 15 points, and a war staff for 8 points. comparing their usefulness in combat, he chose the war staff. It was twice as effective (15 vs 9) for half the points.
[Balance Issue]: Starting gear cost for sovereigns is still based on the old system. Broken 1.09r
He immediately channeled his powers into the land and a few small straggly wooden poles sprang up from the ground at Capi'tahl. Hundreds of anonymous onlookers, curious as to who was crazy enough to begin a settlement in this new world, surrounded the city. Bugoff walked around exploring the nearby objects he found interesting while the legendary Janusk the Scribe guarded his home. He found some materials and began training one intrepid villager as a pioneer to begin another city named after him.
The pioneer set out soon after, while Capi'tahl was still in it's infancy. Immediately afterwards, an army of 8 spiders and two bandits descended on Capi'tahl, killed Janusk and flattened it to rubble. The pioneer turned around, and walked back to reconstruct Capi'tahl. The dead waste of the former city was uninhabitable, and Capi'tahl from that point forward had a hole in the center.
[Balance Issue]: Getting overrun before you are 10 turns into the game happens to me 50% of the time. I'm a bad luck magnet though. Fixed 1.09r, I had enough time to build an army from that point on, though sometimes I wasn't smart enough to do so.
[Bug]: You can't build over squares of bandit-destroyed city. Broken 1.09r
Bugoff invested heavily in the research of spells, enjoying demolishing large swaths of enemy forces with spell blasts, fireballs, and other tricks. As he gained in stature, he ensured that his body could withstand punishment and sharpened his mind as best he could (all my stat points were in in INT and CON, got to level 7 and about 20/20). As he gained in stature, dozens of champions were recruited to his cause. He found a beatiful woman and married her. They adventured together for several years, as the children were born.
Their first son, Ma'Cho was a peculiarly interesting individual. He had twice the stamina of a normal man, and moved half as fast (base move and combat speed of 1).
[Bug]: Heir stat formula allows sub-peasant levels of stats--most significant on attributes that cannot be increased like move, combat speed. Broken 1.09r.
Bugoff equipped his child for battle, and sent him out to partake in the newly revealed quests. He enchanted the child with arcane weapon and regeneration. Ma'Cho won several engagements, but did not heal. However, with his father's stock of salty butter biscuit ice cream, or was that salted pork, he was able to sustain himself.
[Bug]: Regeneration didn't work. This bug was fixed before 1.09r.
Ma'Cho soon met Princess Hjirlyubyar of Altair, and became so enchanted with her name that Bugoff negotiated a marriage between them. It didn't matter that they hadn't the political experience, the two just...eloped.
[Bug]: No tech needed for interfaction marriage. Broken in 1.09r.
Years later, Bugoff's first grandchild was born. Son of Ma'Cho and Princess "Jirly." Bugoff soon realized that none of his heirs had the ability to channel...(this proved to be really annoying later as I had to spend 1 mana per turn per heir...)
Minor family emergency, I'll try to get back to and refine this later. I am very glad they fixed the dead caravans counting against your limit bug.
