Sovereign of Death and Destruction

I hate to say it but the Sovereign with enough spells in his arsenal is a killing machine - is that the game plan?

Not sure if this has been changed in recent builds but,  I was playing a game where money was negative so I could no longer build my army.

I had been learning spells and stockpiling points to I was level 19 spell casting learned and 3 books of magic

Gilden decided unwisely that now was the time to attack because all I had was a sovereign with  few weak armed peasants.

What they did not consider was the fact that I had 2500 in spell points.

1st attack - Gilden kills my peasants but the Sovereign survives by following the following tactic:

1. Cast Haste

2. Cast Area Attack Spells - to damage or kill as many units as possible - 2Xs

3. end turn

4, Enemy has no range units so it attempts to advance

5. Cast Area Attack Spells - to damage or kill as many units as possible - 2Xs

6. Cast Blink to move to the other side of the map

7. Rinse and repeat

I survive 4 direct challenges with this tactic

Before they launch a 5th wave I cast 4 summons to build a little raiding force.

Some of my summons also have spells

1. Cast all spells from my summons

2. move them into a defensive line in front of me.

3. Enemy has archers I cast fireballs to kill all range units.

4. End turn

5. Caste Haste

6. Begin Range spamming.

WIN!

Realizing I am on to something as long as I have enough magic I remove all buffs from my cities and then with my rag tag band of monsters I go an the assualt.

6 Gilden cities fall to the wrath of my Sovereign.

I finally face the Sovereign of Gilden who kills my army before I manage to kill him - the game freezes at this point.

So.... my question is - is this the intention?

Not that I am complaining - there is something very good feeling about a Sovereign is near unbeatable unless by another Sovereign by the mid to late game.

Just want to know if I can expect to be God-like in the future.  LOL
