I wanted to try something a little risky so I saved the game and, as predicted, did not care for the outcome.
When I go to restore the game, it starts to load but in the side panel is shows an AT WAR event which had not been their previously. I think that my nearest neighbor is declaring war on me - changing states before the reload is fully finished - which is causing it to crash. Anyhow, it seems like it is reevaluating wether it should declare war on load-up which causes it to generate an error.
I'd also like to complain about the unfair advantages enemy sovereigns receive. Encountering a very early game enemy sovereign (under 25 turns) who has a wife and they both have level 10 or so armor is utter bullhocky. Even if they had somehow managed to research the armor, they still would need to purchase it. I am out there earning my levels in a light windbreaker and open-toe sandals while the AI appears to start in early mid-game armor. Add in the harder early game mobs and we're forced to stay at home while the AI can range out, gain some easy levels due to their tanking gear, and they also get to expand their knowledge of the world with no risk.
