When I try to play with the beta patch I get weird problems. The intro never plays and the game just hangs on a black screen. I can push enter to get to the main menu like normal, but all the animations, like the background and the avatars in sov creation, are frozen. When I try to start a game it just hangs forever on the loading screen. The game never actually crashes. It just sits there doing nothing at least according to task manager. 

I've been able to run 1.09n before and I think it broke after I minimized the screen once and got a crash and an error from DX. I've reinstalled (and reinstalled all my drivers) and 1.09e works ok but if I install the beta again the game breaks.
