Odd

I have been playing a ton of Elemental been enjoying it and each patch gets better and more stable. Its also nice to see our feedback going into the updates. Yes launch was messy but hey it happens.

Want to know something odd though? I know you do.

Civ 5, purchased it 10am yesterday morning.

1. Logged in... have to play though steam which pisses me off.

2. Mods dont work for most people. They give some odd work around but it doesnt work for most.

3. With ALL the game reviews not one reviewer that i read panned CIV5 for altering there game in Multiplayer. Thats right folks. ****ALL**** Animations were turned off. Moving, Battles, even the little Civ5 leaders dont do anything. They are trying to claim thats what there players wanted. They are lying.

Its really about performance issues they were having with multiplayer. There was some base code written that was poorly optimizied for multiplayer so instead of fixing it, they pushed the game out and figured no one would notice or care. If people really cared they might patch it later. Some people care some dont.

Least Stardocks honest.

S.R.

P.S. Still going to begrudingly play Civ5 multi this weekend though.

Least Stardocks honest.
End of quote

Not to cut them for any major issues with Civ 5, but Stardock's honesty was as a last resort once the game was revealed to be a badly polished turd by the wealth of forum complaints, bad reviews and negative sales reviews on Amazon and the like.

Missing features?  Multiplayer and epic battles are both clearly listed and implied (respectively) on the box itself and neither is present in 1.08b.

Broken features?  I won't even dip too far into these since they don't directly reflect on their honesty, unless you count posts during b4 about how the gold version was FAR more feature complete and polished than what the testers were seeing.

Frogboy's multiple mea culpas count for a lot in my book, though let's be perfectly honest...  anything short of complete abasement on his part would be PR suicide at this point.

I'm going to view Civ5 exactly as I have the previous vanilla releases of said franchise.  Lots of work internally and from modders and it'll be a gem.  But unless it's basically an unplayable framework and buggy as hell (look at the bazillions of CTD posts on these forums from 8/24 on) it's no Elemental.

I agree with 1 thing. Elemental is NOT Civ5. Element is a different type of game. I am not gonna buy Civ5 due t the fact that.... Its still Civ, same game just a different cover/makeover. Its great, but then after a week you realize your just playing Civ... as you have on Civ 4 and before that Civ 3...
